Ameer Al-Nakkash

Since April 1, 2020, Dr. Ameer Al-Nakkash is the new chief physician at the Department of Vascular Surgery. He has the baton from Dr. Felicitas Zimmermann, who helped designed into building up the clinic from the start and is now beginning a more leisure-oriented phase of life.

Dr. Al-Nakkash was born in Baghdad, Iraq and studied Human Medicine. He has been living in Germany since 1996. He is a specialist in vascular surgery and been working at the Dresden Municipal Clinic as senior physician for 15 years. He played a key role in shaping the change in his department from a classic clinic to a modern one that offers the entire spectrum of vascular surgery therapies.

Today, the Clinic for Vascular Surgery works at university level in an interdisciplinary vascular center. Dr. Al-Nakkash is certified as an Endovascular Specialist by the German Society for Vascular Surgery in 2016 and is a recognized member of the European Society for Vascular Surgery. He sees the close cooperation within the vascular center and in the entire hospital as well as the cooperation with other hospitals as an important prerequisite for good medicine.
