Dr. Antonio De Lacy is one of the best professors in general surgery at Quironsalud Barcelona Hospital. He has rich experience in his profession and has been successfully handling complex surgery operations for several years. Dr. Antoniois also an international consultant in general and digestive system surgery and was the first surgeon in Spain to perform Natural Orifice Transluminal Endoscopic Surgery (NOTES) to extract a gallbladder orally in 2007. He is currently recognized worldwide as a pioneer, and expert in the colon and rectal cancer surgery, bariatric surgery for morbid obesity, and esophagus cancer surgery, among others, using minimally invasive techniques and robotic surgery. Dr. Antonio De Lacy completed a bachelor of Medicine at the University of Barcelona and gained his specialization in General Surgery at the same University. Also, he obtained his Ph.D. in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Barcelona. He had several fellowships in hospitals, such as Emory University (Atlanta), Pacific Presbyterian Hospital (San Francisco), Cleveland Clinic (Cleveland), Mount Sinai (New York), Cornell University (New York State). Professor Lacy and his team’s clinical and research work has resulted in more than 230 publications, with an accumulated impact factor of 889,641 (SCI Journal Citation Reports 2018) and a Hirsch Index of 50. He has also participated in 30 surgical reference book chapters and has been invited to deliver more than 400 lectures in congresses all over the world.
