She was the first surgeon in the tri-state area to perform a robotically assisted mitral valve surgery in 2011. Dr. Gurjyot Bajwa gained her medical degree from St. George’s University, Grenada, and then trained in General Surgery at Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center, Brooklyn, New York. She completed a fellowship in Cardiothoracic Surgery at Rush University Medical Center, followed by formal training in Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery at Cleveland Clinic, Ohio. Moreover, Dr. Bajwa is certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and has authored numerous articles in scientific journals and textbooks.
