Dr. Hendrik C. Dienemann is Professor of Surgery, General Thoracic Surgery at Heidelberg University. He is a famous surgeon and a specialist in thoracic, vascular, visceral procedures. He specializes in both adult and pediatric thoracic surgery. He worked as an assistant at the Pathological Institute of the University of Tübingen from 1976 to 1978, where his medical degree also was awarded. He was working at CIBA-GEIGY AG in 1981 as a researcher. Dr. Hendrik C. Dienemann did great studies on the management of acute renal failure and was awarded the EK Frey Prize for his habilitation thesis. In 1986, as a result of this incredible event, he was appointed a senior doctor at the University Surgical Clinic of Munich (LMU). Dr. Hendrik C. Dienemann subsequently worked for four years as a Visiting Professor at the Sloan-Kettering Cancer Centre. After this, he had begun his long adventure and spent almost 21 years in Heidelberg University Hospital as chief physician of the surgical department of the thorax clinic. He was then promoted to a C4 Thoracic Curriculum Professor at Heidelberg University. After all that, Dr. Hendrik C. Dienemann became the director of the Lung Cancer Centre, where he served for ten years at the Heidelberg University Hospital. He has worked on initiatives for Non-Small-Cell Lung Cancer Immunology and Immunotherapy (S. Safi). In collaboration with Prof. Dr. med. Beckhove of Heidelberg investigated spontaneous T cell response in lung cancer patients' effect on tumor growth (NCT).
