Hematopoietic stem cell transplant, commonly called bone marrow transplant, is a special kind of medical treatment in which dysfunctional or damaged bone marrow is substituted with healthy blood-forming stem cells. Bone marrow transplantation is used to cure certain blood cancers (such as leukemia, multiple myeloma, non-Hodgkin’s lymphoma) and different blood and immune system diseases affecting the bone marrow’s ability to produce healthy blood cells. Prof. Hong Ghi Lee, M.D, Ph.D. is a highly experienced and veteran specialist in Bone marrow transplant. He is currently associated with Konkuk University Medical Center, Seoul, South Korea, as the Head of the Blood Cancer Center. Dr. Hong Ghi Lee is a highly competent hematologist with very vast knowledge and practice. He graduated from the Yonsei University College of Medicine, Seoul. He also went to the USA for further specialization and advancement in his field and did his fellowship training from Roswell Park Cancer Institute, Buffalo, USA. In addition to this, Dr. Hong Ghi Lee completed Professorship from Sungkyunkwan University and East Carolina University, USA. Recently he also earned a Ph.D. degree from Yonsei University College of Medicine. Dr. Hong Ghi Lee has done extensive research on hematopoietic stem cell transplantation and hematology and successfully published hundreds of articles about it. He is a juror and consultant of various Korean associations related to blood cancer, hematology, and bone marrow transplantation. Dr. Hong Ghi Lee is accredited and regarded for his academic and research work. He was also selected as the winner for his research and academic activities at the 21st Annual Conference of the Korean Society of Hematopoietic Cell Transplantation.
