Dr. Joerg Kluge is a skilled thoracic surgeon who is currently the Chief Physician at Thoracic Surgery & Thoracic endoscopy at Helios Hospital Erfurt. He can perform complicated surgical procedures such as Minimally invasive (video-assisted thoracoscopy), thoracic surgery (VATS), Video-assisted thoracoscopic lung resection (VATS lobectomy), Thoracoscopic thymectomy (removal of residual thymus) for Myasthenia gravis, Video mediastinoscopy, Flexible and rigid bronchoscopy. In 1990, Dr. Joerg Kluge completed his medical education from Humboldt University of Berlin and Medical Academy Dresden and received his license to practice medicine. From 1990 to 1996, he started his medical journey and got specialty training as a surgeon at Carl Thiem Hospital Cottbus, Department of Surgery. In 1996 he received Board certification as a surgeon. From 1997 to 2000, he continued his education in the subspecialty thoracic surgery and received a certificate. In 1999 he was a visiting physician at Lung Hospital Hemer, Department of Thoracic Surgery. In 2003 he received certification of the subspeciality visceral surgery. From 2006 to 2011, Dr. Joerg became the Head of the Department of Thoracic and Endocrine Surgery and worked as a Senior Consultant and Deputy Head of the Department of Surgery from 2007 to 2011. In 2010 he worked as a Visiting physician at Harvard Medical School, Department of Surgery. He has been working as the Head of the Department of Thoracic Surgery and Thoracic Endoscopy at Helios Hospital Erfurt since 2010. Dr. Joerg Kluge is a respectable member of many societies like the German Society of Thoracic Surgery, the German Society of Surgery, the German Society of Pneumology, the Central German Society of Pneumology and Thoracic Surgery, the Professional Association of German Surgeons.
