Dr. Karthik did his schooling from Don Bosco, Egmore and later went on to Madras Medical College for his MBBS. He played cricket for his school and college and often opened the bowling with the new ball. Swimming was another passion which saw him represent his district in Breaststroke, winning the gold medal a few times. While in college, he was President of the Students Union which showcased his leadership skills. Sports ensured his hand eye coordination flourished which soon saw him as a Laparoscopic surgeon. He completed his Masters in Surgery from Madras Medical College with summa cum laude. He obtained the FRCS Diploma from the Royal College of Surgeons Glasgow (UK). He is trained in Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery with a Fellowship from The Cleveland Clinic Foundation, USA www.ccf.org. He trained with Dr.Willy Davila, the current President of The International Urogynecological Association. Being one of the forerunners of this specialty in India, he was constantly pursued by students avidly. However, Elevating the Quality of life of individuals was always his zone, and he found a huge void in the field of Men’s health and Sexual Medicine. After his Fellowship training in Andrology and Clinical Embryology by Prof N. Pandian from the Chettinad University in India, he left to the United States for further training. He was trained in Men’s Reproductive health and Reproductive microsurgery by none other than world renowned Andrologist and Reproductive microsurgeon, Dr.Paul Turek at The Turek Clinic in San Francisco, California. A special focus on Sperm Mapping and Reproductive Microsurgery was emphasized. Advanced Embryology techniques were learnt at the Pacific Fertility Center San Francisco. He further obtained Fellowship training in Sexual Medicine from Dr.Irwin Goldstein eminent Urologist and the past Editor of The Journal of Sexual Medicine at the San Diego Sexual Medicine Center, SanDiego, California. Training included evaluation, investigations and treatment of Men and Women with sexual dysfunction with emphasis on Erectile Dysfunction in men and Sexual pain disorders in women. During his tenure at San Diego Sexual Medicine, he met with Dr.Andrea Kap, Gynecologist and Sexual medicine expert from Vienna, Austria who furthered his interest in Female Sexual Dysfunction.
