Dr. Mathew has been practicing orthopedics and trauma surgery over the past 20 years in various hospitals in India, the UK and the UAE. He has special interest in hip and knee replacements, knee arthroscopy, pediatric orthopedics and hand surgery. Dr. Mathew obtained his Masters in Orthopedics from Manipal Academy of Higher Education following which he joined Pushpagiri Medical College, Kerala, as Assistant Professor, gaining wide experience in the management of spine and joint disorders, trauma and fracture surgeries. He also worked in the Pediatric Orthopedics unit handling a wide range of congenital and developmental childhood orthopedic problems. He underwent knee arthroscopy and sports medicine training by the Indian Arthroscopic society and was awarded a Fellowship in Hip and Knee Arthroplasty at the prestigious Ganga Hospital, Coimbatore, which is an internationally renowned orthopedic hospital performing around 10 to 15 hip and knee replacements daily. He then obtained his MCh Orth degree from Dundee University, UK, working in the knee surgery unit at Ninewells hospital, Dundee, one of the largest surgical teaching hospitals in Europe. He was also awarded the Membership of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh. He then returned to India and took over as Associate Professor and chief of the Joint Diseases unit at Pushpagiri Medical College before joining Mediclinic. He has been an invited speaker at national and international orthopedic conferences, been responsible for teaching medical students and post graduates and has published his research works in indexed medical journals.
