About
Prof. Scipione Rossi is a well-established and highly competent ophthalmologist, with more years of clinical expertise. He is one sought-after medical expert and surgeon. Being an ophthalmologist, he deals proficiently with the accurate diagnosis, targeted treatment, and prevention of eye diseases and optical systems. Dr. Scipione Rossi graduated with honors, in 1980, in Medicine and Surgery at the "La Sapienza" at the University of Rome, then in 1984, he specialized in Ophthalmology, with honors, at the same University. Since 1990 he has worked in the role of the Ophthalmology Division of the San Carlo Hospital in Rome. In 2000 he was Director of Eye Day Surgery, and since 2003 he has been Director of the Complex Operating Unit of Ocular Microsurgery at the same hospital. Since 2007 he has been an adjunct professor at the Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome teaching in "Anterior Segment Surgery" until 2015. From 2018 to today 'Adjunct Professor at the University of Trieste with the teaching of anterior segment surgery. Surgical activity: about 1000 surgeries a year (cataract, retinal surgery, glaucoma, strabismus, keratoconus). Scientific activity: board of directors of the Italian Association of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (AICCER) and scientific director of the journal of this society (La Voce AICCER). He is also a member of national (GIVRE, SITRAC) and international scientific societies (ESCRS, ASCRS, AAO). He is a member of the European Refractive Committee (ERC), an international committee with a focus on innovations in refractive surgery. He is the author of about 100 publications in Italian and foreign journals. He has made more than 300 presentations at national and international congresses. He has participated as an author in the drafting of several monographs in ophthalmology. He has performed numerous surgery sessions live at national and international meetings.
