Dr. Ujjwal K Debnath is a well-known orthopedic and spine surgeon at Fortis Hospital Anandapur, Kolkata, and has over 30 years of experience in the field of orthopedic, joint replacement & spine surgery. Also, he is the founder-director of “Operation Straight Spine”, a Transatlantic Collaboration program that focuses on the treatment of spinal deformities in children and adults. Scoliosis Research Society (SRS), USA has recognized this as the first global outreach spinal surgical program in India. Dr. Debnath has performed approximately 10,000 Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery successfully in the last 30 years. He has performed more than 3000 fracture surgery, 600 joint replacements, 700 arthroscopic surgeries & more than 1000 spinal operations. Dr. Ujjwal K completed his Jiwaji Medical College, Gwalior, India, and several years of experience, he gained his FRCS in general surgery at Royal College of Physicians & Surgeons of Glasgow. He has worked and expanded his knowledge and skills in all aspects of orthopedics surgery from University hospitals of England, Wales & Ireland since 1995. He has worked as a Spinal Fellow at Queens Medical Centre, Nottingham, 2007-08. During this period he was able to complete the thesis for the Doctorate on “Factors predicting the outcome following surgery in lumbar spondylolysis” for which he was awarded Doctorate in Medicine, DM (Orthopaedics) at the University of Nottingham in Jul 2010. Moreover, Dr. Debnath has associated with many healthcare institutions of global repute like Croydon University Hospital (London), Nation Hospital (Abu Dhabi), King Hamad University Hospital (Bahrain), AMRI, and RKMSP (Kolkata) to name a few.
