    About

Heart Center at Dresden University Clinic The Heart Center Dresden University Clinic is one of the most modern clinics in the Dresden region. More than 660 employees in four specialist clinics and institutes work hand in hand under one roof to provide healthcare to a population of over 600,000 people. After the reunification, there was a considerable undersupply of the population in the field of treatment of heart and circulatory diseases throughout Germany and especially in the new federal states. In order to eliminate this undersupply, especially in the Saxony area, a non-profit association, the Heart and Circulation Center e.V., was founded on February 24, 1992, as the private sponsor of the planned heart center. On July 8th, 1994, the groundbreaking ceremony took place for the construction of a two-story building in container construction with 60 beds, two operating theaters, and two left-heart catheter measuring stations (first construction phase). On January 10, 1995, the heart center in this small building began to operate, treating its first patient. At the same time, the planning of a multi-story building for the Heart Center Dresden (second construction phase) began. On September 27, 1997, after only 22 months of construction, the new clinic building on Felscherstrasse (next to the grounds of the Carl Gustav Carus University Clinic) with 160 beds was inaugurated. In September 2001, the sponsorship was transferred from the Heart and Circulation Center Dresden e.V. to the Heart Center Dresden GmbH University Clinic. In December 2001, in the search for a high-performance and reputable partner, they found what they were looking for. In January 2002, today's Sana Kliniken AG took over 100% of the shares. The services and commitment of the Dresden Heart Center for university matters as well as national and In 2006, the TU Dresden recognized international activities in the field of research by awarding the title. By interlinking university performance in research, our patients participate in teaching, optimal training, and further education while receiving medical care directly informed by rapid scientific progress. Since May 2009, our patients have had access to one of the strongest magnetic resonance tomographs in Saxony, the 3 Tesla MRT, for the gentle diagnosis of heart attacks, heart muscle inflammation, and heart valve defects. At the beginning of 2011, the first interventions took place in the newly built hybrid OR. Cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, and anesthetists work together in an interdisciplinary manner. The operating room is particularly suitable for minimally invasive innovative methods, such as B. heart valve therapy via the groin or the apex of the heart. The Free State of Saxony granted the Dresden Heart Center an additional 30 planned beds in recognition of the medical services provided in addition to the existing 160 beds. To realize this additional capacity, a modern extension was built in 2011 and put into operation at the beginning of 2012. In February 2013, a special department for invasive electrophysiology was established within the Department of Internal Medicine and Cardiology. Cardiac arrhythmias of all kinds can be diagnosed and treated here with the help of the latest technology. Today, the Heart Center Dresden University Clinic at the Technical University of Dresden offers its patients the entire spectrum of cardiological and cardiac surgery, including heart transplants for adults, including hybrid ORs. FURNISHING The Heart Center Dresden has four operating rooms, three left-heart catheter measuring stations (including one measuring station with hybrid conditions), and a hybrid operating room, which combines the advantages of a conventional operating room with that of a left-heart catheter for patient care. The heart center has 190 beds for preventive and aftercare, of which 95 beds each are in the clinics for internal medicine and cardiology, as well as in the clinic for heart surgery, which are divided into intensive care, intermediate care, and normal care beds according to the graduated care concept. The heart center has a large lecture hall and several seminar and conference rooms, which are also used for teaching at the medical faculty. In addition, there are research laboratories for scientific work in cardiology and heart surgery on the ground floor. We are excellent: Deloitte and other well-known institutions have named us a "Best Managed Company".
