RANGE OF SERVICES As a house of basic and standard care, the Sana Hospital Rügen in Bergen offers all important medical departments under one roof. In addition to internal medicine in the Medical Clinic and the Clinic for General, Accident and Visceral Surgery, an independent women's clinic with obstetrics and a children's clinic take care of our patients. The specialist areas of ear, nose and throat medicine and urology are available as affiliated departments, which means that resident specialists operate and treat their patients here in our house. The clinics are supported by the department for anaesthesiology, interdisciplinary intensive therapy and perioperative medicine as well as the laboratory and pharmacy. The short-term care "Am Raddas" and the inpatient hospice also belong to the Sana-Krankenhaus Rügen GmbH. The Sana Arztpraxen Rügen GmbH rounds off the range of services in the outpatient area. DEPARTMENTS: GASTROENTEROLOGY The gastroenterological ward treats patients with diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, pancreas, liver and bile ducts. In addition, patients with benign and malignant neoplasms and diseases of the lymphatic and hematopoietic organs are on this ward. A team of specialists in orthopedics and trauma surgery as well as general and visceral surgery is available for this purpose. The surgical clinic guarantees basic and standard surgical care as well as emergency and acute surgery for the island of Rügen. The specialist departments of trauma surgery and orthopedics as well as general and visceral surgery are technically independent departments. The main focus of the clinic is accident and joint surgery, and endoprosthetics are also very important. General and visceral surgery focuses on benign and malignant diseases of the gastrointestinal tract, inguinal and abdominal wall hernias and diseases of the thyroid gland. 50 beds are available for the treatment of patients in bright, friendly one, two and three-bed rooms. A modernly equipped operating wing enables about 3000 operations a year. Patients are cared for after major operations in the intensive care unit. Since January 2017, the intensive care unit has been expanded to include a unit with six beds. GYNECOLOGY AND OBSTETRICS The specialist treatment spectrum of obstetrics includes all problem cases throughout pregnancy (currently up to the 22nd week of pregnancy). With ultrasound and color Doppler diagnostics, we can help you in an emergency or with instruction in all weeks of pregnancy. With our team of registered midwives, we strive for a physiological birth with you. At the same time, all the necessary means and options are available to safely counteract complications during childbirth and in the postpartum period. After the birth and during childbirth, we receive round-the-clock support from our children's clinic if necessary. In gynaecology, the focus is on special surgical methods for removing the uterus, cancer therapy and urinary incontinence, in addition to general conservative and surgical treatment methods. PEDIATRICS AND YOUTH MEDICINE The children's clinic of the Sana Hospital Rügen ensures the basic and standard care for all small patients on the island. More than 1,100 patients are treated in our clinic every year. A hospital stay is always a very stressful exceptional event for children and their parents - characterized by worries and fears. We are therefore doing our best to make your and your children's stay easier. For example, the clinic offers very flexible visiting regulations, nice playrooms and convenient options for parents of small children to stay with them. ANESTHESIOLOGY, INTERDISCIPLINARY INTENSIVE CARE AND PERIOPERATIVE MEDICINE If you are undergoing an outpatient operation or an operation associated with an inpatient stay at the Sana Hospital in Rügen, the anesthesiology staff will take care of the individual planning and implementation of the anesthesia. We also monitor and accompany you after the operation - until you are discharged or transferred to a normal ward. In addition, the clinic's doctors ensure emergency rescue on the island and manage the clinic's 24-hour central emergency room. All emergency patients receive first aid here. INTERDISCIPLINARY INTENSIVE CARE UNIT (ITS) Interdisciplinary intensive care means the special treatment of patients with serious life-threatening diseases. In addition, medical care is ensured after extensive operations, for newly operated patients with complicating comorbidities, and for patients who have experienced or fear complications after an operation. Patients from all specialist departments are treated in the 14-bed intensive care unit; around the clock, 7 days a week, anesthesiologists, in cooperation with all specialists together with nurses who are particularly qualified in intensive care medicine, care for the patients. UROLOGY The specialist field of urology is managed as an inpatient department in the Sana Hospital in Rügen. This means that urologists in private practice treat and operate on their patients in the Sana hospital and use the infrastructure such as operating theatres, employees and inpatient care. In this way, the patients continue to be cared for in the clinic by the specialist they know. At the same time, however, medical technology and specialist staff from a routine hospital operation are available for all interventions. This ensures the greatest possible safety in patient care. OTORHINOLARYNGOLOGY The specialist field of ear, nose and throat medicine is managed as an inpatient department in the Sana Hospital in Rügen. This means that resident ear, nose and throat specialists treat and operate on their patients in the Sana hospital and use the infrastructure such as operating theatres, employees and inpatient care. In this way, the patients continue to be cared for in the clinic by the specialist they know.
