Trochleoplasty
Normally, the knee cap or the patella lies in a groove on the femur's end (thigh bone). The patella slides up and down in a rhythm known as the trochlear groove when the knee bends and straightens. The patella may become unstable and even come out of the groove (dislocate) in other people, normally through twisting motions of the leg.
There are many reasons that a patella can be unsteady. One of the reasons is that the groove is bent incorrectly, resulting in a dome instead of a groove. With this position, the patella is precariously balanced on the domed trochlear groove and is extremely fragile. Thus, trochleoplasty is an approach to reshape a new groove for the patella to settle in. it’s typically an effective method of patella stabilization.
