Overview
Ultrasound-assisted liposuction is a selective approach for emulsifying fatty tissue and improving fat removal. This technique can be utilized on many different parts of the body, including the chin, neck, back, buttocks, belly, legs, and arms. Ultrasound cavitation can be used to shape fatty areas, as well as skin and cellulite. The result can be considerable skin contraction and smoothing of body parts. This approach eliminates the need for surgical intervention and uses less energy to accomplish comparable results. This approach is also effective for treating fibrous scar tissue, resulting in less bruising and blood loss. The benefits of Vaser ultrasonic-prepared liposuction over mechanical liposuction include better fat extraction, reduced blood loss, and smoother outcomes. The drawbacks of the Vaser ultrasound approach include the possibility of thermal burns, the requirement for larger cuts for protective ports, a higher likelihood of seromas, a somewhat higher cost, and longer preparation and operative periods. However, a subsequent presentation will demonstrate the advantages of this newer generation of liposuction procedures.
