The most common combination is correction of angulation with lengthening. Our surgeons most frequently treat bone deformities with corrective osteotomy (cutting of the bone). Corrective osteotomy requires either internal fixation or external fixation to stabilize the broken bone.

A dislocation is a separation of two bones where they meet at a joint. This injury can be very painful and can temporarily deform and immobilize the joint. The most common locations for a dislocation are shoulders and fingers, but can also occur in elbows, knees and hips.

Inflammatory arthritis destroys a joint in your hand, wrist or elbow. In arthroplasty surgery, doctors remove the damaged joint. They replace it with a durable prosthesis. For elbow arthroplasty, the damaged parts of the bones and joints are replaced with a prosthesis, too.

In this procedure, the surgeon removes the ends of the damaged bones and fits a plastic-and-metal replacement joint onto them. The artificial joint helps the ankle retain more-natural movement, so there's less risk of arthritis developing in nearby joints.

Growing Pains. Growing pains are the most common cause of episodic musculoskeletal pain in children. These nonarticular leg pains occur at night in healthy active children 3–12 years of age, with a peak of 6 years. These leg pains are often felt in the calf but may also be felt in the foot, ankle, knee, or thigh.
