Gastroenterology and Hepatology Our gastroenterology unit is fully equipped with modern devices using the latest technology. Diagnostic Procedures Available In Our Clinic Include Esophagoduodenoscopy is used for the diagnosis of upper gastrointestinal diseases; endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography is used for the diagnosis of biliary and pancreatic diseases; and colonoscopy/rectosigmoidoscopy is used for the diagnosis of colon disorders. A liver needle biopsy is also available in our clinic. There are various treatment procedures; endoscopy could be used to remove foreign bodies from the esophagus, stomach, or rectum. Narrowness of the esophagus due to various reasons, especially benign fibrotic narrownesses, may be dilated by esophagogastric bougies. Malignant narrownesses of the esophagus may be palliated by stent applications. Sclerotherapy or band ligation are performed to treat bleeding varices that usually occur as a complication of cirrhosis. If patients need enteral long-term nutrition, it is provided via percutaneous endoscopic gastronomy. Treatments are also available to stop the bleeding, which focuses (for various reasons) on the upper and lower gastrointestinal systems. The polypectomy method is used to remove polyps from the colon. Stones in the biliary system and/or pancreas are easily removed by using the balloon and basket technique following papillary sphincterctomies. In obstructive biliary diseases, especially those of malignant origin, we use stent application to reestablish adequate bile flow. A neuromonitoring system is used to minimize the risks in brain and spine surgeries. With the intraoperative neuromonitoring method, the surgeon is warned by the detection of the damage that may occur in the nerves during surgery. Golden Needle Scarlet S, another popular name for the Golden Needle treatment, gets its name from the device used. With the gold-tipped microneedles in the Scarlet S device, the epidermis, which is the top layer of the skin, is passed and the middle skin is reached directly. The radiofrequency energy given to the lower layers of the skin with the help of gold needles reaches the skin substrate without damaging the skin surface, and it induces the production of collagen and elastin. During the application, collagen fibers are stimulated by applying heat from the needles to the tissue. In this way, a quick recovery is provided for the skin, and collagen production and damaged collagen are repaired. Thus, regeneration of the skin, repair of damaged tissues, and bright and tense skin are observed. Cardiac MR is also used in patients with palpitations, fainting, dizziness, and rhythm disturbances to investigate whether there is a focal or anatomical hemodynamic cause that may cause these symptoms. In congenital heart diseases and aortic diseases, it provides a painless diagnosis without radiation and helps in the follow-up and treatment process in patients with poor image quality who are undiagnosed by echocardiography.
